One of the downsides to using Painter in the past (and this was partially due to my machine’s speed) was the brush lag. In fact, Corel states that users will see up to a 5 times faster startup time, and other impressive speed improvements (of course this all depends on your processor and memory amounts).īesides startup, the most noticeable speed enhancement is with the workflow. However, the speed bump of Painter X running as a universal binary is even more noticeable. The last version I purchased was Painter 8, which did run on my Intel Mac, and I did notice a speed bump running in Rosetta.

The Dab Preview panel is the most reliable way to determine what is the shape of the currently selected dab. It simply shows the dab that was last selected in that panel. When selecting a dab in the “Captured” dab library, only the currently selected captured dab brush is changed. It makes every dab-type brush a fountain of infinite mark-making possibilities!!:-) The new brush Size Library and the Display in Grayscale option in the Navigator are also wonderfully useful! I also love the new Favorite option, combined with the new Filter options, in the brush selector. I also love the new Captured panel and associated dab libraries and new captured dab capabilities. These include the mixed media capabilities that allow mixing of watercolor and dry media brushwork. In this session I introduce some of my favorite exciting new features in Corel Painter 2022.
